Winner of the GOGBOT YOUNGBLOOD AWARD 2022. Best of NL talents, 2022 graduate from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.

GOGBOT YOUNGBLOOD AWARD since 2008 is the annual award for best of graduates from the NL art academies in the field of creative technology. The winner receives 1000 euro and an invite for a new  project with PLANETART. Sponsored by KITT ENGINEERING Enschede and PLANETART.

Immuunsysteem (2023) is an interactive installation that utilizes an aluminum grid suspended from the ceiling, measuring 1.6m x 1.6m. The grid carries 16 objects that produce air vortexes at each crossing point and is equipped with sensors that detect the presence of visitors. The installation adapts its behavior based on the presence of visitors. When no one is present, it operates in a low-pressure state, randomly activating one object at random intervals.

However, when someone enters its private space, the installation responds by going into high-pressure and rapidly activating all the objects, altering the sense of space and atmosphere.

This installation is part of the “Forced Switch Series”, which represents the artists ongoing exploration on the use of invisible materials within the framework of immateriality. It challenges the traditional hierarchy of the senses that prioritizes sight by shifting the focus from visual detection to tactile perception. The use of air vortexes and manipulation of space creates an immersive experience that alludes to the concept of the immune system and its adaptations to the environment. This work directs its visitors to a different hierarchy of the senses.
