THE HYPERMEMETIC TAXONOMY
ALEX WERTH
Hypermemetic Taxonomy is about tracing back oversized systems such as plant production in the Netherlands via the material path; what objects are used, what waste is produced, are particular inconsistencies noticeable in the research?
All this finds its way and informs the work, giving the ability to point fingers at things that do not go quite right. In most of the new work, movement is integrated, be it through self-programmed Arduino and motors or used toys that are hacked.
Functions are taken over and put into a new context, thereby juxtaposing the taken object and the changed variant in the new context. Most of the objects consist of found materials, or common what is understood by garbage.
From this, speculative forms of life emerge, which in turn are categorised and classified. Besides the naming and the narratives given to each object, contradictions about the respective system are expressed.
